Friends’ growing fears over Charles and Camilla’s three-year marriage as the rows escalate

In most marriages, an anniversary is a time for celebration. But this week Prince Charles and Camilla will mark three years together amid growing concern among the couple’s friends about the state of their relationship.
The pair are to go away together for a fortnight in Scotland, broken only by a trip to Lincolnshire where Charles will present Prince William with his pilot’s wings.
However, behind the romantic appearance, friends believe the shine has started to come off the relationship.
The couple are said to argue in front of aides and Camilla sometimes prefers to spend time alone at her country hideaway

Supreme Court to hear Exxon spill case
CORDOVA, Alaska – For many in this coastal town, the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster was an event so crushing that hard-bitten fishermen still get teary-eyed recalling ruined livelihoods, broken marriages and suicides.
But mostly, people in Cordova talk about the discouraging wait for legal retribution for the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
It’s been almost 19 years since the tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground at Alaska’s Bligh Reef, spurting 11 million gallons of crude into the rich fishing waters of Prince William Sound. In 1994, an Anchorage jury awarded victims $5 billion in punitive damages. That amount has since been cut in half by other courts on appeals by Exxon Mobil Corp.
Exxon’s profits were $40billion in ‘07 alone.
Should Exxon pay the original damges of $5 billion?

Yes.
I happen to be one of those people who think that people (even if they are only “paper people” like corporations) need to be held responsible for their actions and the consequences thereto. If they are not held responsible they have little incentive to prevent the same occurrence.
Exxon managed to tie this case up for years because it’s cheaper to pay endless attorney fees than it is to pay billions in damages (the return on investment of that much money EASILY pays any attorney fees).
Now that they have wasted nearly 20 years of time and caused tremendous government expense to deal with these Exxon attorneys and their endless motions (and having lost at every step) it is now time to pay the piper as they say. I only wish that the government could also force them to pay for the cost of 20 years of litigation.
