Ever wonder why UPS has the worst record in the track packet loss?
Viewing video which I have linked below on CNN will answer many of your questions. Everyone in the video that works for UPS seem to be auditioning to be in a BET music video. http://money.cnn.com/video/news/2009/12/21/n_cmr_ups_busiest_day.cnnmoney/?icid=main|htmlws -Home-n | DL3 | link6 | http% 3A% 2F%%% 2Fnews% 2Fmoney.cnn.com 2Fvideo 2F12% 2F2009% 2F21% 2F% 2Fn_cmr_ups_busiest_day.cnnmoney I hate to burst the bubbles of lower level FedEx is larger but with a difference! If you lose your tracking number, good luck to help UPS, FedEx will do anything for you trying to locate the package. With UPS have two methods on time, paying for a 3 and the other is when it gets there it gets there. So I am a grinch because I hate UPS? Nice try! Be a spoiler: the person who is not in the spirit of Christmas!
because they have a bunch of thieves who work for them?

Find Distribution: online outlets for their music
Find a dealer is difficult. It can take months and months before finding and find a distributor, which is not an easy process for independent labels or individuals.
Do not give up or get discouraged not, keep plugging away, even if you can not find a distributor after months of research. Distributors get a lot of packages on their desks each week, it is imperative that you first contact them before sending a package. When calling a distributor, you can get the first shot, or it may take weeks to reach a real person to talk to.
If you do not first contact, and send a package for non requested, it could be discarded or returned unopened. But you may think, "My product is awesome! Never do this with mine." Sorry to bring bad news, but the package can not be opened. In fact, can never move from the receptionist desk without permission. Why does not assure you that your product has a much greater likelihood that heard by getting permission first place?
For those of you who feel they could never make any cold calls, you must start at the top, or a friend would call it. Passing through the first call is always difficult, but you will see, calls for more, it becomes easier each time. You are in competition with a large number of persons engaged calls. If you do not call, chances are very slim that never listen.
If, after the first time you call, you still feel you're too embarrassed, try to make a character and make a call as this character. Become a "Wicki Jick" to "Nagawicki." (You never know, may lead to more acting career!) are in a game.
It is important that you send your CD to a distributor that distributes your kind of music. The person you send is not necessarily the person responsible for final decisions. From the moment you begin to contact with them, can take six to eight months to get the actual product in their hands and make them finally listen, before finding the right distributor. Once you finally get there, it can take a month to get a little added to your database. Here are some tips on how to find a distributor:
• In his first appeal, I want to be your name and your label. If you have not yet chosen a name, make a y. • Learn about your presentation and distribution policies. • Ask if the fact that only an independent label will cause a problem. Many distributors do not take products from independent labels unless they have at least three to fifteen of their CD "stable". In addition, many dealers do not, unless you have already created the radio. The Catch-22 is that many radio stations, while the latter can play an independent artist will only do they have national distribution. • Ask what they want in the press kit. Some want a folder complete with a CD release (give up sending a bullet in the head, unless you're invited to), while others just a short letter containing the latest developments, make suggestions and review passages, if any. It is important to find this information in advance. We realized, after much wasted time and money, many distributors would letter. They had opened the package, read the sheet tears, and missed the rest. Once we began to call frequently asked questions about the whole package again. What a waste of resources! • In his letter press kit / want to know your "SRP", which is the retail price suggested. For those of you not familiar with the details in relation to wholesale, retail is the price that consumers pay in a music store and higher wholesale price the dealer pays the owner of the product.
My suggestion is SRP $ 11.98 – $ 12.98. You do not want to own the market price. When looking at a music store, CD greatest artists of the label are "sale" of $ 11.98. Dealers generally 40-60% of your SRP as their cut (40% x $ 11.98 gives you $ 7.19 for CD), and music stores generally mark the SRP of $ 1.00 to $ 4.00. If you set the SRP of $ 11.98, and adding an additional $ 2.00 to the price of your CD, the cost to the consumer would be $ 13.98. However, if you set your SRP $ 13.98 and the bank added $ 2.00, the consumer price would be $ 15.98. What price do you think a consumer who had never heard of you would be more likely pay?
• Check that style of music that is currently distributed. • Ask if you want your music to be heard in a station particular radio.
There are distributors that require you to be played on specific stations before distributing. If gender does not play music, you have lost your product, money and time. Let me give you an example of why there is another key issue. We asked questions above, except that individual. Then send the package. When you contact them later, we asked if we were playing a radio station in particular. We said no.
It turned out that the only alternative music station, while the CD is Country / Jazz. You can see the problem. When they have approached this issue, said they did not distribute any country music. We asked when he stopped distributing the country music. The gentleman we discussed during our first call said he planned to present country music in society, but he had not been luck. He has done ever played in the season when the air is necessary, then he fell. An excellent example of wasted time, effort and money!
• Ask yourself where its distribution arm reached. Ask for states and regions. Some distributors only distribute in some states. If your radio airplay, live performances, and promotion are not in these regions, they can not help. • What is the best time to reach them? • Who are some stores that distribute too, and in what areas? Call multiple stores and check their references. If the stores have never heard of them, can be a play. Save the product of an unscrupulous person may be tempted to steal.
This is just a foretaste things to do to get a distributor. Remember to set your music with iTunes, and online SonyMusic all distributors. Once obtained a distributor is a completely different field of play, and hard work, but worth it.
