Does Windows Vista snitch on illegal downloaders [please read]…?
This is very important to me. I want freedom. I want to download stuff from emule and limewire, if thats even illegal, without Vista telling on me. Thats why i’m afraid to install vista, the only reason. I heard on the news that alot of people got busted for illegal downloading and have huge fines for their whole itunes library, i think these people may have had vista and since vista has high security they somehow told on them like w/ ip addresses. Please tell me if this is true or not, etc. I must know. I’m doing research and i really want to install it.

windows vista (or rather microsoft) has no interest in limewire downloaders, or any other form of illegal downloading unless it affects their profits.
in reality this means any microsoft software you have that is pirated, vista will likely check all the serial numbers to see if they’re well known ’shared’ or ‘leaked’ serial numbers and if it finds any will shut down your illegal microsoft software.

but to re-iterate my point, at the moment if you’re not costing microsoft money they won’t check anything else – people who are caught for downloading are caught simply because programs like limewire or bittorrent are not private by any means, ip addresses of people sharing, uploading, downloading illegal copyrighted files takes only 5 seconds to find, most file sharing services are open systems.
you’re probably safe from microsoft, but not from anyone that’s hunting illegal downloaders – downloading stuff you shouldn’t from limewire and the like is not ’safe’ in any sense of the word so do it at your own risk.
