News China Earthquake
Expats in China: If you can’t speak Chinese, what’s your scource of news?
For instance, news about the earthquake in Sichuan province.
I can’t speak Chinese worth a da–! But, I can certainly understand the Chinese news! And of course the Chinese Daily and the Hong Kong channels on TV, the western news is too bias to listen to or read on the web.
News China Earthquake

As the low-pressure area stalls off the coast of Los Angeles we are watching Southern California turn into a giant lake. Neighborhoods in the low-lying areas are starting to look more like ponds. A couple of burned out fire areas are under flood watches and some have already seen small mudslides, hopefully they will get a break from the rain, but with the circular storm it simply drops all that water, then goes out to the ocean to pick up more. The storm is fairly large with outer bands from San Luis Obispo, to Las Vegas to Tijuana Mexico.
Mudslides and the Malibu Landslides are known hazards of Southern California, especially in El Nino years, but we are not even in the El Nino time of year and this isn’t and El Nino year anyway. In California your home is more likely to be destroyed by a mudslide than an Earthquake. Speaking of which will all this water weight and storm surges, full moon, some seismologists are worried about a possible Earthquake.
Will the Los Angeles basin have severe flooding like last year? Will more luxury homes fall from the cliffs? Will we be watching weeping but warned homeowners of the hazards from horrific habitual flooding in the future? Everyone knows about the terrible traffic, but adding the torrential to the tragedy is trying people’s patience and perseverance. Think on this.

Did you know the Chinese earthquake was so deadly?
Initial reports made it sound not so bad. It seems the Chinese government wants us to believe that nothing bad ever happens there. Who else feels this way?

Edit: Sorry Spell Check, I must be a simpleton, I do not get it.
Edit: First reports I heard said death toll of 107. It was only a day, but you would think they would have a better estimate or none at all.

I really don’t know if they would lie over something like this. There really isn’t a reason to. I believe that china would exaggerate the numbers for many possible events. But it doesn’t make sense to do so here. What happened isn’t the fault of the chinese government. Honestly, who can prepare for an earthquake of that size? If there is going to be a lie about this, it will be in the amount of aid china gives it’s people and probably many more people will be reported as being helped than will actually have been. I imagine public works will be reported as fully functional before they are as well.
In anycase, best to put out a prayer for those who have died and those that were hurt as a result of this quake. Prayer at least suffers no government spin doctoring.
