How far is Newport News VA from Virgina Beach VA?
I wil be traveling to Virginia beach soon and need to get a ticket, however, the Norfolk airport prices are much higher than Newport News. I am staying at the Westin in Virginia Beach and was wondering how far the Newport News airport was from there. I think i tmay actually be called williamsburg?
Newport News/Williamsburg is actually rather far from the oceanfront in Virginia Beach. It’s 35 miles to the Westin, but you have to go through one of the tunnels, which are notorious for bad traffic. Look at least an hour.
Norfolk Airport is only 11 miles from the Westin and is a very easy ride.

The BBC has reported that up to 300 jobs are at risk at Newport City council, as the local authority in Newport attempts to save £9m next year.
This will not come as welcomed news to the people of Newport who, like the majority of the Country, rely on publically sourced employment.
Not only is the Council a huge source of employment for Newport, but the area is also host to many Government-related bodies such as the Passport Office, Office for National Statistics & The Office for Intelectual Property Rights (formerly Patents Office) which could all be heading for budget cut-backs.
Newport City Council leader Matthew Evans, said the authority was operating in ‘challenging economic conditions and was facing one of its toughest budgets’ and would no doubt do everything to avoid serious casulties in the job market in Newport, however, reports highlighted that Council employees have been sent letters preparing them for future job cuts.
In Newport, Mr Evans said the sheer scale of the cuts required means the authority had to consider all options, which reluctantly included staffing. He declared the task of sorting it out as ‘Massive’.
‘The authority is doing what it can to protect staff and will aim to achieve any cuts by not filling vacancies, redeployment or retraining’.
According to the Western Mail, more than 10,000 jobs could go in local councils such as Newport over the next four years.
The Mail said that was an estimate based on figures from the UK government.
Last March, the Welsh Local Government Association warned at least 700 local government jobs would be lost in Wales in 2009 and up to 2,000 by 2011 due to the recession.
A month earlier, the then Finance Minister Andrew Davies told BBC Wales’ Dragon’s Eye programme that Welsh public services were facing an “unprecedented”

Can anyone in or around Newport News VA tell me how the job outlook is there?
Im considering a major move, from Detroit to Newport News Va but I would like to know how the job market is there. As Im sure everyone knows by now, jobs in Michigan are super hard to find, companies are collapsing like Dominos and I just dont see a real future here.
I have a friend who owns a construction company in VA and Ive been seriously considering a move down there. I would be working in the dental field but I would like to have an overall view of newport. I live in Portsmouth which is 10 miles from Newport News. It would be great for your field. Hampton roads is a great area for you to find work in your field. Now about the area Newport News is the most urban like city down here in the 7 cities (hampton roads) But overall I love living here and you may to!!!!!!
